New Project Update as of October 23, 2016
Texas 360 EXTENSION "Section 1" PROJECT
(dated March 14, 2014)
This is an update regarding the North Texas Tollway Authority's (NTTA) Texas 360 Extension "Section 1" Project. This tollway project is very important to the economic development, growth, and relief of traffic congestion along our SH-360 corridor. The project would take SH-360 from Sublett / Camp Wisdom 9.7 miles to HWY287. The project would eventually link SH-360 with 161North (future project), which would provide a straight shot to the DFW airport and reduce traffic congestion along HWY360 north of I-20. However, this connection will be pursued after the Texas 360 Extension "Section 1" Project is completed. For a historical timeline for this project, click here.
The North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Transportation Committee (RTC) approved funding support for the Texas 360 Extension project on December 5, 2013. This paved the way for TxDOT and NTTA to pass resolutions in late December for funding support for this project. TxDOT and NTTA have both approved a funding agreement during late February to move ahead with design/construction of this tollway project. TxDOT will do the design and construction and then turn over the road to the NTTA to be operated and maintained as part of the region's now-vast tollway system. The design/construction contract has begun the advertisement process and should be awarded by early 2015.
Design/construction should start for the Texas 360 Extension Project by late-2015 and be completed in 2018. The ultimate project would extend a 4-lane each-way system from Camp Wisdom/Green Oaks to Broad Street, and then become a 1-lane each-way system (Super-2 --- will be enhanced with passing lanes) to Hwy-287. Click here for a plan & profile look at the current design for this project. Future phases will add two more lanes between Camp Wisdom/Green Oaks to Broad Street, while adding two more lanes from Broad Street to Hwy-287. It appears that future phases could be 15-20 years later, depending on the traffic demand.
A Public meeting was held on June 24, 2010 at Mansfield City Hall to present the preliminary plans for this project. A public hearing was just conducted on October 17, 2013 at Timberview H.S., whereby the proposed project and its environmental study (EA) was presented and public feedback was received. A summary of this public hearing was produced by the Mansfield Mirror on October 21, 2013. Click here for that article.

Three other links are also included below that gives further information on this project via Star Telegram articles.
The current project timeline is as follows;
A year will be needed to procure a design/build contract that should start design/construction by late-2015.
Phase-1 construction (Section 1) should be completed in 2018.
Phase-2 (or subsequent phases) has no timeline right now and is dependent on when available funding can be secured and traffic demand warrants. Such future phases that could add more lanes to this Section 1 project could be 15-20 years away.
